| THE CRITERIA for receiving a FF Gold Merit Award -
GOLD MERIT AWARDS ARE FOR ANY BIRDKEEPING SITE WHICH PROMOTES THE WELLBEING OF CAGE AND AVIARY BIRDS.
The site must be relevant to the activity of birdkeeping and provide genuine and factual information to this end.
The site must be the original work of the nominee, or at least have the authorisation of the originator whose copyright it is.
All content on the site should have recognise international laws of copyright and should not propose to have generated said material without prior consent.
The site should be in working order at time of submission, those sites which are constantly under construction are fine, but should at least work to a competent level.
The site must abide by all Data Protection Act policy and not attempt to compile viewers details without pror written consent and approval.
The site must be for private, non-commercial activity only, and not pursue to direct or influence traffic by means of misinformation, misdirection or coercion.
THE CRITERIA for receiving a FF Technical Merit Award -
MERIT AWARDS ARE ONLY AWARDED TO BIRDKEEPING SITES WHICH SATISFY TECHNICAL EFFICIENCY FOR THEIR VIEWERS AND ARE THEREFORE USER FRIENDLY.
All criteria for Merit Awards also apply to Technical awards with the addition of the following criteria.
The site should be compatible with at least two of the most popular internet browsers and cross platform for both Windows and Macintosh Operating Systems.
The site should be viewable on a 28k Modem within a reasonable time frame (less than 30 seconds per page) excluding prewarned pages and downloads.
The site should be viewable without the necessity of plug-ins (where plug-ins exist for navigation alternates must be provided)
The site should be compatible with W3C recommendations for use by the Visually Impaired.
All sites submitted for Technical awards will receive technical feedback upon the performance of the nominated site, but only the owner may apply for such feedback.
