THE CRITERIAVIEW AWARDS GRAPHICSAPPLY FOR AN AWARDVIEW WINNERSWHO'S JUDGING?
The Feathered Flyer web awards are awarded to those birdkeepers who have published birdkeeping sites to which share their experience and knowledge and by so doing help and encourage those less experienced.

Their are some excellent birdkeeping sites from all over the globe, every one of which deserves praise for the endeavour that each individual has put in.

Unfortunately we can not give awards to every body that requests them. To win a Feathered Flyer award there are certain criteria that must first be met in order to qualify. We must stick strictly to these criteria to ensure that they will be a clear sign of merit and recognised by viewers as a symbol of quality amongst the birdkeeping world. There are two types of award, GOLD and TECHNICAL, the differences between these are explained in the 'Criteria' section below.
THE CRITERIA for receiving a FF Gold Merit Award -

GOLD MERIT AWARDS ARE FOR ANY BIRDKEEPING SITE WHICH PROMOTES THE WELLBEING OF CAGE AND AVIARY BIRDS.

The site must be relevant to the activity of birdkeeping and provide genuine and factual information to this end.

The site must be the original work of the nominee, or at least have the authorisation of the originator whose copyright it is.

All content on the site should have recognise international laws of copyright and should not propose to have generated said material without prior consent.

The site should be in working order at time of submission, those sites which are constantly under construction are fine, but should at least work to a competent level.

The site must abide by all Data Protection Act policy and not attempt to compile viewers details without pror written consent and approval.

The site must be for private, non-commercial activity only, and not pursue to direct or influence traffic by means of misinformation, misdirection or coercion.

THE CRITERIA for receiving a FF Technical Merit Award -

MERIT AWARDS ARE ONLY AWARDED TO BIRDKEEPING SITES WHICH SATISFY TECHNICAL EFFICIENCY FOR THEIR VIEWERS AND ARE THEREFORE USER FRIENDLY.

All criteria for Merit Awards also apply to Technical awards with the addition of the following criteria.

The site should be compatible with at least two of the most popular internet browsers and cross platform for both Windows and Macintosh Operating Systems.

The site should be viewable on a 28k Modem within a reasonable time frame (less than 30 seconds per page) excluding prewarned pages and downloads.

The site should be viewable without the necessity of plug-ins (where plug-ins exist for navigation alternates must be provided)

The site should be compatible with W3C recommendations for use by the Visually Impaired.

All sites submitted for Technical awards will receive technical feedback upon the performance of the nominated site, but only the owner may apply for such feedback.

WHO'S JUDGING - You may be thinking "Who are you to say what is good and what is not?"

The truth is that there is a panel of over 30 members voting for acceptance or rejection. You too can become a member by joining the FF Message Board and voting in the Award Polls - Let the people speak for themselves!

Technical Awards are judged on a purely calculated formula and are not meant as judgement in any way upon the quality of contents. All submittals will receive a written individual performance report supplied by Angel Multimedia, an established Internet Design Agency. Results are formatted by automation.
